Christie Alexandra Nowels

A native Floridian, Christie was born in Boca Raton and currently resides in Tampa. She is a senior at the Academy of the Holy Names, and plans to attend the University of Georgia this summer, as a Pre-Journalism/Broadcast News major. Christie is employed by the Tampa Bay Rays in the department of Guest Relations-Fan Host. She is a natural in front of the camera and plans to have her very own talk show on network television. For the past two years, Christie has been involved in the Miss USA pageant system. She is the former Miss Lakeland Teen USA 2009, and currently holds the title of Miss Tampa Teen USA 2010. These titles have given her the opportunity to bring visibility and awareness to the underprivileged children of not only the Tampa Bay area, but throughout the state of Florida, through community outreach events and mentoring. Her community volunteering includes American Cancer Society/Susan G. Komen Cancer Awareness, Faith Children’s Home, Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Lakeland Children’s Exploration Museum, High Heel Hike for Autism, Camp Boggy Creek, and Metropolitan Ministries. 2010 marks her third year as a missionary to Jonestown, Mississippi, where Christie is making a difference in the lives of an impoverished area. She has championed a cause in our state’s capital speaking before the House of Representatives at Girls’ State this past summer on a proposed bill “guaranteeing underprivileged, orphaned, and foster care children the opportunity of a Community College degree upon high school graduation.” Christie believes that you should “Dream big and never limit yourself as you nurture your hopes and aspirations!” Christie models on her weekends in Miami, and has previously worked with La Casa Hermosa, Ritchie Swimwear, Fashions by Elan, and Bijoux Turner Jewelry. Christie is an avid fitness lover, and looks forward to working in the fitness modeling industry.
