About Master Mehrdad

Born in the City of Sari, Persia and raised near the Caspian Sea, Master Mehrdad Khan Moayedi practiced traditional Martial Arts and Persian Kushti Kaj his entire youth. As an adult, he traveled the world and gained tremendous knowledge in various styles of Martial Arts under the teachings of Asian Grandmasters. Ultimately, he trained under Grandmaster Inn Suk Pak in Toronto, Canada. He earned a 6th Degree Black Belt and Masters Certification under Grandmaster Inn Suk Pak and then moved to the United States in 1991. Master Mehrdad specialized in various styles of arts which include Hapkido, Kung-Fu, Tae Keuk Do, Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai and Persian Kushti Kaj, better known as grappling. He then developed his own style of Martial Arts and formed World Shin Do Kumaté Association, Inc. Currently, he is ranked an 8th Dan Black Belt.

In 2001, Master Mehrdad decided to form his own traditional fighting organization to bring the most skillful fighters/masters together for the quest to find the greatest martial arts warrior. The Shin Do Kumaté was formed and founded based on the philosophy of traditional martial arts fighting. "The Quest for the Greatest Martial Arts Warrior" seeks true fighters who embody the spirit of traditional wisdom, humility and honor in their "way of the fighting spirit". The Shin Do Kumaté fighting event was the first Full Contact Martial Arts event ever sanctioned by the Florida State Athletic & Boxing Commission.

Throughout his life, Master Mehrdad has learned that Martial Art brings true balance to all aspects of life, including personal and business relationships. He teaches this aspect to all of his students and he teaches his own uniquely developed fighting & self defense system that is much more effective than many other styles of martial arts simply by eliminating various ineffective moves that other styles rely upon. His art incorporates techniques and strategies of such styles as Hapkido, Kung-Fu, Muay Thai, Kushti Kaj (grappling) and Western boxing. His teachings also include Yoga, Tai Chi, and Chi Kung - the roots of internal power.

Master Mehrdad understands that all styles of Martial Arts have benefits; however, many also have limitations. For example, Tae Kwon Do relies on leg techniques; Karate uses primarily rigid/straight-forward movements; Aikido focuses on circular and hand movements and western boxing focuses on upper body. Judo and other grappling arts teach only submissions and throws. Kung-Fu styles emphasize on form and weapons training, and many western Hapkido schools teach different methods. While the majority of all Martial Art techniques are skillful, they each have limitations and some areas of weakness. Master Mehrdad’s unique style has been created to be extremely effective, exceptionally dynamic and complete with no limitations.

In addition to teaching, fighting and operating two businesses, Master Mehrdad strives to make a difference in the lives of children. He lost his mother at the age of 4 and poured his heart into practicing Martial Arts. It balanced his life in a way that strengthened all areas of his being. Master Mehrdad has always held compassion for children and has 3 daughters of his own. After viewing local news clips of young girls being abducted and later found murdered, his desire to help children grew stronger to prevent crimes against innocent children.

Master Mehrdad has devoted over 35 years of his life to the study and teaching of Martial Arts and actively participates in traditional Martial Art systems. He currently fights in full-contact Muay Thai events and holds the Shin Do Kumaté Heavyweight Championship. He is well recognized for his knowledge and mastery of Martial Arts and is highly respected in his community as a citizen, teacher, friend, and businessman. The National Republican Congressional Committee’s Business Advisory Council listed Master Mehrdad as one of the 2003 Businessmen of the Year. He has received the National Leadership Award and was recognized as a top U.S. Business Leader in The Wall Street Journal in March, 2003. He is committed to working closely with leadership in restoring American economic prosperity and has been invited to meet with members of Congress and other high-ranking party officials in Washington, D.C.  To know more about me and my fighting style please visit; www.mastermehrdad.com
